The Divinist religion has many god-like and demi-god like figures within the mythology. The most significant ones are described below. Because no photos exist showing their actual appearance, artists create their own interpretations of how these figures appear.
The Immaculate Deities
The Divine is the most revered figure of the Divinist religion, "the god of gods". They are a genderless deity that embodies purity, love, and forgiveness. They are not a perfect being; The Divine is capable of making mistakes just as mortals do, and they will own those mistakes and correct them. They are the creator of the gods, which speaks to their power. The other gods, and all of the angels answer to The Divine. Everyone who follows the Divinist faith should have an altar for The Divine. Praying to them for help is rare since there are other gods under them that may be better suited to help with the issue. It is most common to give praise to The Divine at the altar.
The three guardians are a trio of weaker gods created by The Divine to help them with more mundane tasks so they can focus their energy on creating a battle strategy in case Damnation is ready to attack once more. The three are responsible for making regular reports to The Divine.
Salvation is the female guardian. Under The Divine's watchful eye, she oversees The Land of Eternal Rest. She is not a queen who shrouds herself from the public; Salvation can commonly be seen interacting with the residents of Eternal Rest, and comforting those waiting for loved ones to meet them there. Worshipers usually construct altars and pray to her for: inner peace, assistance with purifying items or spaces, guidance in their moral standing, and comfort after the death of a loved one.
Realmcrosser is the non-binary guardian. They are most commonly seen in Neutral Space, but can also be seen in any of the other three territories. They are the first line of defense against anything that poses a threat to any of the territories. They are also the gatekeeper of the afterlife, permitting and restricting access to various areas of the Spiritual Realm. Realmcrosser reports to The Divine when they engage a powerful threat, a foe that actually poses a challenge in combat. When war times begin, Realmcrosser will fight alongside The Divine, the gods, and residents of Eternal Rest. Divinists typically build altars for them and pray for protection, strength, and safe travels. It's common to see figures of Realmcrosser in spaces worshipers want to protect, and devotees often carry miniature figures of Realmcrosser for protection during their travels.
Peacekeeper is the male guardian. He disguises himself to walk among the living in the Physical Realm. He observes the state of the different worlds while also helping others in any way he can. He always tries his best to diffuse arguments among the people, and be charitable to those in need. After his data-gathering and doing good for the people, he returns to The Divine to report his findings. When he is not scouting the various worlds, he is resting in preparation for his next task. Divinists construct altars and pray to him for help with work, help working through both internal and external conflicts, and assistance for those in need.
The Divinist goddess of death's name translates to "Deathguide" in English. Deathguide used to be the only reaper angel, however, The Divine gave her permission to hand-select a group of angels to help her. Now, her job is to teach reaper angels how to guide the spirits of the deceased to their afterlife destinations and go with them when needed. It's very common to see shrines dedicated to her in cemeteries and statues of her at the entrance. Altars to Deathguide are not commonly seen in homes, however some do exist; usually owned by those who work with the dead like undertakers. The most common requests for her are a painless death and watching over loved ones that have recently died while they make their journey to the afterlife.
Lifegiver is the genderless Divinist god of the hearth; life, fertility, love, and family. Deathguide's counterpart. As the name suggests, they commands life. They may also be called "Beloved Parent" by their devotees. They are the god responsible for giving the worlds their plants and animals, to the trees that lose their leaves in the winter and return to their full greenery in the summer. They also control love of all types: romantic, family and all types in between. Worshipers usually pray to them for assistance having children, to bless their farms and give them a large harvest, for help with problems in their romantic relationships, and for help calming tension in the family. Lifegiver embodies both roles in reproduction, so they are prayed to by both assigned males and assigned females.
The Infernal Deities
Damnation is the embodiment of evil. He is the opposite of everything The Divine is: merciless and malicious. He enjoys torturing the residents of The Land of Eternal Unrest, and finds great joy in sending his demons in disguises to harass the living. He commands his army of demons and fallen angels through abuse and fear. Though he is not nearly as cruel to his wife as he is to other spirits, he still rules over her with an iron fist and will punish her if she does something he disapproves of.
Eliza is the wife of Damnation, and a fallen Seraph angel. She betrayed her people by bringing homophobia and biphobia into existence, earning her the title of "The Traitor". After being cast out of Eternal Rest, Damnation found her and made her both his bride and his apprentice. Despite her husband commanding her, Eliza feels loyalty to Damnation for making her powerful and giving her a place to stay after her exile. She is beautiful, however she is capable of just as much cruelty as Damnation. Revenge against The Divine and her ex-boyfriend is her main motivation, however, being second-in-command of a demon army is a major plus to her.
The three Hellbeasts were created by Damnation as part of his battle strategy. He knows he is not strong enough to destroy the gods alone, so he used some of his power to create three Hellbeasts to aid him in battle: Fear, Bigotry, and Hatred. They have the minds of savage beasts and an appearance to match. Unlike the three guardians, the Hellbeasts have no gender and they are not assigned tasks; they are untamed beasts waiting for the time to emerge from their cages once more.
